Kika Vargas is a Bogotá native that entered the creative scene with a degree in Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She then forayed into fashion with a degree in Fashion Design from Instituto Marangoni in the Italian fashion capital of Milan. She went on to work for the bohemian chic label Missoni for two years after graduation. Kika Vargas found her affinity towards vivid color palettes while working there. She returned to her home town Bogotá in 2010 to make her lifelong dream come true. The Kika Vargas label was incepted in 2011, drawing inspiration from the designer’s memories of her childhood. She went on to bag numerous accolades for her contribution in carving the creative landscape of modern-day Colombia. Among her many accomplishments, Kika Vargas has been nominated as a finalist for the Seventh Edition of the LVMH Prize. The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers is a prestigious award that honors fashion designers under 40 from around the globe. It is a creative mentorship program that is awarded to young talent.
