Jonathan was always drawn towards clothing. His earliest memories that sparked his interest for fashion were when his mother would take him along to departmental stores. They would bond over shopping for outfits for his mother. Jonathan Simkhai’s father and uncle launched a wholesale clothing manufacturing business. He began designing clothes for them and his designs were always popular among the buyers of other departmental stores. This is where he learnt the processes of manufacturing and sampling. He switched to working for other stores and retailers as a buyer after this. After gaining experience as a buyer and merchandiser, designer Jonathan Simkhai studied construction from the esteemed Parsons School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology. He then went on to launch his eponymous label which catapulted him straight into the CFDA Fashion Incubator program. He already had a discerning eye for style that was honed into an eye for artistry and craft at CFDA. Since then, Jonathan Simkhai has casted his label as the go to brand for contemporary, impeccably crafted Ready to Wear.
