The Balmain Pre-Fall ’19 collection is yet another product of this fascination – only this time, it’s a blast from the past with mythological Asian motifs that meet architectural silhouettes. And if we dare say, it’s bolder, sharper and more risqué than ever. In a collection that screams ‘East meets West’, Rousteing wraps aspiration creatures around a barely there silhouette. We must admit, some of it has us wondering – How would you wear this in public?
No doubt, the founding principle of the “architecture of movement” is a philosophy that’s still very much engrained within the fashion house. The pre-fall collection boasts of exaggerated volume suggesting a deconstructed kimono and sleeves that double as embellished wings. Meanwhile, the spiky scaled dragons embroidered in rich colours and textures have us drooling over the exquisite craftsmanship.
