5 Things to Know About Balmain Pre-Fall 2018
It’s a tribute
Olivier Rousteing distills the current spirit of France into a sparkling Pre-Fall 2018 collection for Balmain. He employs the blue, silver, and red of the tricolour to a dramatic effect, and channels a glamorous – even rebellious – ‘80s vibe through it all.

It’s a debut
In a first for the brand, Rousteing introduced menswear in his Pre-Fall 2018 edit. “For pre-fall, both our men’s and women’s designs riff on familiar signatures: my obsession with music and rock’s incredible style is front and centre, as is Balmain’s clear identification with classic Parisian codes,” he told The Fashionisto.
It’s set to music
Vogue Paris and Balmain collaborated to shine the spotlight on the season’s hottest new accessory: the Balmain BBox bag. Supers like Isabeli Fontana, Lisa Vollebregt, He Jing, and Andres Velencoso, star in a slick, heist-inspired video.
It’s brought new recruits
The ‘Balmain Army’ of celebrity supporters famously features the Kardashians and models Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. We now have a new recruit! Paris Jackson, spotted in the Ziggy Stardust-inspired dress.
It’s a neat segue
The holographic shine, the structured, embellished knits and motif-rich t-shirts neatly tap into Fall 2018’s buzz-worthy trends. For the Fall campaign, Rousteing roped in Milla Jovovich: “I’ve long admired Milla’s strength, style and talents and I’ve often dreamed of finding a way to work with her on a Balmain project.”
