Chloé is a brand known for creating cult-favourite It bags: from the Paddington to the Faye, the French fashion house has been dishing out hits since as far as we can remember. So when news broke that Gabriela Hearst would be joining the house as its newest creative director about a year ago, the fashion set was thrilled, for the name Gabriela Hearst and sustainability go hand in hand. After all, what’s better than a guilt-free way to continue a good old healthy bag obsession?
Trends come and go but a timeless bag is forever. For her debut show earlier in 2021, Hearst brought back one of the most popular bags from the Phoebe Philo era: the Edith bowling bag. Interestingly, it was also the Uruguayan-born New York native’s first luxury bag, one that she’s held onto even over fifteen years later – a testament to its timeless appearance. Over seasons, Gabriela has reiterated the bag with variants in sizes, function, colour waves and textures.

While the reissue keeps the classic look and feel of its forerunner, Hearst has given it quite a few upgrades: right from the modern design, down to materials used in crafting the bag which have a lower environmental impact. The equestrian-inspired contrast stitching pieces the bag together, while defining its trapezoid shape. The outer pocket is perfectly sized for stashing your phone and lip balm (yes, it’s chapstick weather). With double top handles that are great to just grab-and-go, and a removable strap that you can sing over your shoulder - it’s all you could ask for in a functional yet chic day bag. Last, but definitely not the least, the signature leather tag bearing the Chloé logo, is the final touch that adds to its completeness.
