The Le Cagole bag by Balenciaga is on-trend with the ongoing '90s revival.
Since its runway debut at Paris Fashion Week for SS22, the bag has made its way into all the idolised wardrobes you can imagine. Style icon Courtney Trop and influencer Chiara Ferragni sported the bag in a kitschy pink hue, while It-girl Alexa Demie from Euphoria was seen carrying an embellished version in sliver. The bag originally comes in a variety of hues including bolder shades like gold, silver, red, and turquoise. French singer, Aya Nakamura mentions the bag as one of her current favourites in an interview with French Vogue. It makes you wonder what the recipe for success is behind this bag which is speedily raking popularity with the upper echelons of the global fashion industry?

The French luxury house is known for its edgy revisions of commonplace silhouettes and embellishments, and that’s what their range of bags has always been about. The French name Le Cagole refers to someone who likes to be over the top, in other words– more is more, and we’re here for it. Balenciaga under designer Demna Gvasalia has created loyalty with the biggest fashion icons of our generation, the obvious being Kim and Kanye, the latter recently uncovered a collaboration between the brand with his Yeezy Gap line.
So it’s no wonder that the brand has an immovable stamp of approval. But even without its status symbol, the trending crescent shape and studded hardware on the lambskin silhouette is inevitably a crowd-puller. The 2000s era punk rock origin deems the bag exactly what the current generation is looking for– a throwback to a very fun time in the past with style that is here to stay.
